On the Server Side
Allaire's recent upgrade to its popular Cold Fusion Web development tool includes the Cold Fusion Markup Language (CFML) for use on servers. CFML allows developers to create server-side tags in order to generate custom Web pages on the fly. The tags are preprocessed by Cold Fusion's application server, which generates the HTML code. CFML contains over 130 functions for manipulating strings and evaluating mathematical functions; ODBC; client-state management to track users as they move from page to page; file management; SMTP server integration; and more. Cold Fusion also includes an API that allows you to extend CFML to access legacy data, for example. Cold Fusion 2.0 also allows you to view Crystal Reports database reports.
Cold Fusion is priced at $495. However, the company offers a subscription program that gives developers access to new releases of Cold Fusion and the Cold Fusion Fuel Paks for an additional $100.
