ElShaddai Edwards from Jasc Software recently gave the editors at Web Techniques
a walk-through of the new version of Paint Shop Pro, and it looks like it's
time to ante up and pay for the product! A runner-up in last year's Web Tools
Awards, it has traditionally been known as the "freely available" graphics
tool. With a major change in interface, Paint Shop Pro 5 now has excellent
support for layers, TWAIN scanners and digital cameras, pressure-sensitive
tablets, and a direct interface for several Kodak digital camerasýincluding
DC40, DC50, and DC120 models. Paint Shop Pro 5 also features professional
CMYK color separations and output, a streamlined Office-style interface, enhanced
image browsing, built-in screen captures, a powerful batch-file format conversion
routine, and Intel MMX technology optimization.
Paint Shop Pro 5 has a suggested list price of $99; upgrades for registered
