Glyphica–a document conversion, CD and Web design, and publishing company–has
announced two new products, CollectionPortal and InfoPortal, to help address the complexity and cost of converting content from traditional media and layout applications like QuarkXpress to PDF and HTML.
CollectionPortal is a custom Web server designed to deliver large quantities of HTML and PDF documents to a Web audience. CollectionPortal reduces site construction time by providing "collection views," which let Webmasters or site managers identify sets of documents at upload time and carry link relationships to external site visitors automatically. It does this by translating the folder-based authoring environment into a portal-style collection of documents for site visitors, using metadata to map the documents to user-understandable categories. CollectionPortal includes a search engine that can handle both full-text and metadata, and highlights search hits inside both PDF and HTML files. A simple database architecture based on Verity's popular search engine allows metadata to be defined for each document, and can be updated dynamically. Access controls let you partition content based on user profiles. The product also includes built-in version control for accurate document history.
InfoPortal includes the full array of functions of CollectionPortal as well as features for building content from electronic and paper source materials.
