CC Payment Server, enterprise
By Bill Pitzer
You've developed the electronic storefront site that will knock everyone's socks off. If you can't close the deal properly, you're not going to have many return customers. Once an order is placed, the credit card verification and billing system must do its magic behind the scenes. You already have an established merchant account with the bank, but how can you get customer information from your storefront system to the bank in an efficient and secure manner? CC Payment Server, enterprise, from Information Designs is made to fill that need.
The Nitty Gritty
CC Payment Server is designed to be compatible with a variety of platforms. The processing application itself is designed to run on Windows 95 or later, or Windows NT. It installed easily on my test system running NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 4 installed. After installation, you must manually create the tables it needs to process transactions, or you can create the tables with SQL scripts that are provided. I used Microsoft Access 2000, but Information Designs claims it has been tested successfully with Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0, Oracle versions 7 and 8, and Sybase. (The vendor also claims it will run on other databases not explicitly mentioned in its documentation, but you'll have to contact them about your specific database.)
