Quick Web Sites

By Clayton Crooks

Zy.com, a British company, provides a multitude of tools used to design, store, and build Web pages or complete sites. The Web-based applications make it easy to create graphical Web pages or a complete site. The package includes three separate programs: Zy Graphics, Zy Web Builder, and Zy Modules.

Getting Started

To use the tools, you first must register at the Zy.com Web site. Interestingly, you can register for the Zy Web Builder and Zy Graphics site together but must register separately for Zy Modules.

After registration, you can log on to the ZyFileStore, where you can create Web sites using the menus located on the page. A sample menu appears in Figure 1. But, use only the Zy-provided navigation tools while visiting its Web site because you can encounter some strange problems if you use the back and forward arrows on your browser. Zy is aware of this problem; it mentions the problem on the site several times and advises you to use the site's menu system for navigation.

To create a Web page, first answer questions about items such as: the title of the page, your site's themes or templates, the content you intend to publish, and the other Web sites to which you'd like links.
