NEW ARCHITECT MAGAZINE ATTRACTS NEW ADVERTISERS AND COLUMNISTS Evolution of CMP Media's Monthly Publication to Debut at CTIA and Internet World in Spring

San Francisco, Calif., January 31, 2002—CMP Media LLC (NASDAQ: UNEWY) today announced that the first issue of New Architect magazine (March 2002) will debut at the CTIA Wireless conference in Orlando on March 20, 2002 and at Internet World 2002 in Los Angeles on April 22, 2002. New Architect is a monthly print publication that serves technology leaders who are architecting their organizations' e-business foundations. The publication is an evolution of CMP Media's popular Web Techniques magazine.

Advertisers respond to editorial and circulation changes
New Architect's evolving editorial direction has received a great deal of praise from vendors in the Internet and Information Technology industries. Bob Melk, publisher of New Architect and group director of CMP Media's New Architect Media Group, reports that "since New Architect announced the evolution of its editorial direction and more stringent circulation qualifications in November 2001, several leading technology companies have responded favorably. In fact, many new advertisers-including Oracle, Ipswitch, Covalent, IBM IntelliStation and Computer Associates-have purchased ad pages to reach New Architect's highly targeted and rigorously qualified readership."

John Magee, Oracle's senior director of product marketing, says, "I believe that New Architect has insightfully identified the people who influence key Internet and IT infrastructure decisions within an organization. The new architects are not traditional IT managers and they are not developers. They represent a new level of Internet strategists tasked with making decisions that affect the infrastructure of an entire enterprise."
